Akinosun advises students against obtaining fake certificates
Students have been advised against involving themselves in certificate racketeering and associated criminal offences.
Chairman, Foreign Links Campus, Dr. Fola Akinosun gave this advice following the arrest of a 200 Level student of a Benin Republic university who obtained a fake degree certificate to participate in the National Youth Service.
The suspect identified only as Rose was arrested on Friday November 22, 2019 while at the NYSC orientation camp in Zamfara.
Rose is a 200 level journalism student in a university in Cotonou, Benin Republic but went ahead to purchase a fake certificate from another university in Benin Republic. Her classmates saw her pictures wearing the NYSC uniform on social media and alerted the University authority who thereafter wrote to the NYSC authorities.
Akinosun admonished students not to cut corners and embrace diligence and hardwork as whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well.
He emphasized that the Foreign Links campus will adhere to all legislations guiding education in the country. He stated that the Foreign Links Campus recognizes the efforts of the NYSC scheme in nabbing fake graduates and would not be a party to obtaining fake certificates.
